Background

Gürkan Erdebil is a founding partner of GEMS Schindhelm.

He has graduated from the Austrian Sankt George's College in Istanbul in 1999 and subsequently commenced his studies at the Faculty of Law of the Istanbul University. In 2003, he graduated from the Faculty of Law as an honours student and in 2005, he successfully completed the LL.M. programme in Business Law at Galatasaray University with his thesis on "Rehabilitation of Enterprises in German Law".

In 2006, Gürkan Erdebil has participated in the scholarship program of the DAAD for international lawyers and completed a certificate program at the University of Tübingen in the area of German Business Law. He has also completed an internship at the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf and at the Düsseldorf office of the law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.

Gürkan Erdebil has worked at the law firm Türkoğlu & Partner as a lawyer until 2012. Subsequently, he joined the law firm Kunt & Partner as a partner and remained until 2018. In 2018, he founded the law firm GEMS Schindhelm.

Gürkan Erdebil is the officially recommended counsel of the Austrian Embassy.

He is a member of the management board of the Alumni Association of the Austrian Sankt George’s College. He is also a member of the Executive Board of the Turkey-Austria Business Council within the Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK).

He has been a member of the Istanbul Bar Association since 2004.
